These terms cover buying and using Aloft, a clipboard manager for macOS made by Gregor Müller (trading as Luces Umbrarum), Berlin, Germany. They're written to be readable. By downloading, installing, or buying Aloft, you agree to them.

01 Terms

The app and your licence	Aloft is free to download and use with a basic feature set. A paid Pro upgrade unlocks the additional features listed on the pricing section. Buying Pro grants you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use Aloft Pro on the Macs you own or control, up to the activation limit shown at checkout (currently three Macs). You may move your licence between your own machines by deactivating one and activating another inside the app. Before buying, you can evaluate every Pro feature with the built-in free trial. The trial is offered as a convenience and may change or end at any time; it does not create any obligation on either side.
Buying Pro — payment and merchant of record	Purchases are handled by Creem, an independent Merchant of Record, who is the seller and merchant for your transaction. When you buy, your payment and billing details are provided to Creem — not to us — and your purchase is also subject to Creem's own terms. Creem handles payment processing, invoicing, and any applicable sales tax or VAT for your region. The price shown is 15 € for the Pro licence unless stated otherwise at checkout; local taxes may be added by Creem.
Refunds	You can request a full refund within 14 days of your purchase, no questions asked. Because the free trial lets you try Pro thoroughly before paying, we keep this simple: email contact@lucesumbrarum.com (or contact Creem) within 14 days and we'll refund you. Refunds are issued through Creem to your original payment method. Nothing here limits any statutory refund or withdrawal rights you may have under the consumer law of your country.
How licence checking works	After purchase you receive a licence key, which you enter once in Aloft to unlock Pro. To confirm the key, Aloft contacts our licensing server, which relays only your licence key and a label for the Mac being activated to Creem. Aloft re-checks the key from time to time in the background the same way. This check never transmits your clipboard, your history, or any other personal data — see the Privacy Policy for the full detail. If our server or Creem is temporarily unreachable, Aloft keeps working as Pro so a network problem never locks you out of something you paid for. You agree not to share, resell, or publish your licence key, and not to work around, disable, or tamper with the licence checks. Doing so may result in the licence being deactivated.
Acceptable use	Aloft is provided for your own lawful use. You may not redistribute the app as your own, remove its notices, or reverse-engineer it except to the extent that applicable law expressly permits despite this restriction.
Updates	Aloft can check for and install updates through Sparkle (you can turn this off in Settings). We may release updates that add, change, or remove features. We aim to keep improving the app but do not promise any particular update, feature, or support timeframe.
No warranty	Aloft is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose. You use it at your own risk. This does not exclude any warranty or guarantee that cannot be excluded under applicable law.
Limitation of liability	To the fullest extent permitted by law, Luces Umbrarum will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, or for any loss of data, arising from your use of Aloft. Where liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to the amount you paid for the app. Aloft stores your data locally on your Mac; please keep your own backups of anything important.
Changes to these terms	We may update these terms as the product changes. The current version always lives at this page, with the date below. Continuing to use Aloft after a change means you accept the updated terms.
Governing law and contact	These terms are governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Germany, without regard to conflict-of-law rules, and subject to any mandatory consumer-protection rules of your country of residence.
