DATA POLICY — EVERYTHING STAYS ON YOUR MAC
01 Data handling
| What the app stores | Aloft writes clipboard history, snippets, settings, and your license status to ~/Library/Application Support/Aloft/ — a folder on your Mac. Nothing else. You can open it in Finder at any time, inspect the contents, and delete everything by trashing the folder. The app will start fresh on next launch. |
| What the app sends over the network |
Nothing from your clipboard. Ever. There is no server that receives clipboard content, usage data, crash reports, or analytics of any kind. Sparkle update checks contact our server to ask whether a newer version is available. This request carries:
Link previews also fetch page metadata for URLs you copy. Pro licensing contacts the licensing service as described below. Sparkle's network behaviour is open source and auditable. You can disable update checks in Settings if you prefer to update manually. |
| Privacy mode | When Privacy Mode is on, Aloft skips clipboard capture in apps you've added to your excluded-apps list. Password manager fields and fields marked as secure by macOS are also automatically skipped — credentials never enter the history. |
| Purchasing Pro |
Purchases are processed by Creem, an independent Merchant of Record. When you buy, your payment and billing details go to Creem — not to us. We never receive or store your payment details. After purchase, Creem issues you a license key that you enter once in Aloft to unlock Pro. To confirm the key, Aloft contacts our licensing server, which relays only your license key and a label for the Mac being activated (its computer name) to Creem — never your clipboard, your history, or any other personal data. Aloft re-checks the key occasionally in the background the same way. If our server or Creem is ever unreachable, Aloft keeps working as Pro (it “fails open”), so a network problem never locks you out of something you paid for. |
| iCloud sync | Aloft stores clipboard history locally using SwiftData. There is no iCloud sync. |
| This website | This site is a static collection of HTML files served from our hosting provider. We do not use cookies, tracking pixels, or analytics scripts. The support form at /support.html accepts submissions you choose to send — the text you write is stored in a private file on our server and visible only to us. We do not share it with third parties. |
